Offsite Program

Silver Offsite activities

Each Silver activity will use 4 Offsite Program points.

Silver gives you plenty of choice while still leaving room to combine your activity with another part of the Offsite Program. These activities cover a wide mix of experiences, so the ranking isn’t an indication of difficulty, quality, or how much adventure is involved.

Choose a Silver activity and you’ll still have 5 points available to put towards another experience, giving you plenty of flexibility when putting your selections together.

Canning River Kayaking Tour

Grab a paddle and explore part of Perth from water level.

You’ll make your way along the Canning River, taking in the riverbanks, surrounding environment, local wildlife, and urban landscape from a very different perspective.

It’s active without being full-on, giving you time to enjoy being out on the river while still doing your share of the work with a paddle.

You should probably assume you’re going to get at least a little bit wet.

EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY:

Come prepared to get wet. Wear suitable clothing and footwear that you don’t mind getting wet, and bring:
- A towel and change of clothes
- Hat and sunscreen
- Drinking water
- A glasses strap if needed
- A dry bag if you’re bringing anything that isn’t waterproof

Ice Skating

Escape the WA summer heat and spend some time on the ice.

Whether you’re already confident on skates or your entire strategy is to stay within grabbing distance of the wall, you can move at your own pace and have a go.

Race your mates, work on a new skill, or just enjoy doing something that feels very out of place in a Perth January.

Long pants and suitable socks are a must, and helmets are available if you’d like one.

EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY:

- Long pants are required to skate.
- Wear long, thick socks rather than ankle socks to help prevent the skates rubbing.
- Dressing in layers is recommended.
- Gloves are also a good idea if you have them.
- Helmets are available for use.

AQWA Day Trip

Explore Western Australia’s coastline without having to travel the thousands of kilometres between the tropical north and the cooler southern waters.

You’ll get to wander through AQWA’s different marine environments, seeing sharks, rays, turtles, colourful reef life, and plenty of other creatures found along the WA coast.

One of the highlights is the underwater tunnel through the Shipwreck Coast aquarium, where you can watch some of AQWA’s larger marine life swim above and around you. It’s an easy-going way to spend the day discovering just how much is living beneath the surface of WA’s waters.

Perth Zoo Day Trip

Spend some time exploring Perth Zoo and meet animals from Australia and around the world.

You’ll get to wander through different habitats, see everything from native wildlife to giraffes, lions, orangutans, otters, meerkats, and plenty more, and learn about the conservation work happening behind the scenes.

There’s plenty to discover beyond simply seeing the animals, so take your time, follow whatever catches your interest, and see where the day takes you.

Maritime and Shipwreck Museums

Explore two very different sides of Western Australia’s relationship with the ocean at Fremantle’s WA Maritime Museum and WA Shipwrecks Museum.

You’ll get to discover stories of exploration, naval history, sailing, shipwrecks, maritime trade, archaeology, and life on the water, along with some seriously impressive vessels and artefacts.

Together, the two museums tell the story of how the ocean has shaped WA and the people who have travelled, worked, explored, and occasionally come unstuck along its coastline.

Perth Aqua Park

Take on a giant floating obstacle course packed with climbs, slides, balance challenges, jumps, and plenty of opportunities to end up in the water.

You’ll scramble your way around the course, haul yourself back onto the inflatables, race your mates, and almost certainly fall off something you were convinced you could stay on.

You’ll need to be a competent swimmer and able to pull yourself out of the water without assistance, because getting wet isn’t really optional on this one.

EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY:

- You must be a competent swimmer and able to pull yourself from the water back onto the floating platforms without assistance.
- Wear bathers, board shorts, a rash vest, or a wetsuit. Clothing or items with sharp fittings, buckles, or anything that could damage the inflatables cannot be worn.
- Jewellery, GoPros, and other camera equipment cannot be taken onto the obstacles.
- You cannot take part while pregnant.
- A waiver must be completed before taking part.

Perth Wake Park

Give cable wakeboarding a go at Perth Wake Park.

Instead of being pulled behind a boat, you’ll ride around the lake using an overhead cable system, giving you the chance to learn the basics, build your confidence, and work your way towards staying upright for a full lap.

If you’ve never wakeboarded before, you can start on the beginner system and learn in a more controlled environment. If you’ve already got some experience, there’s room to take things further on the main cable.

Either way, expect a few wipeouts along the way.

EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY:

- You must be a proficient swimmer.
- A buoyancy vest and helmet must be worn while riding.
- You’ll need to complete the required waiver before taking part.
- You must follow all instructions from Perth Wake Park staff, particularly safety instructions.
- You cannot ride if you are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

Optus Stadium Skyview Tour

See Optus Stadium and Perth from a perspective most people never get to experience.

You’ll head up onto the stadium roof and out to the Sky View deck, around 42 metres above the field, with views stretching across the stadium, Swan River, and city skyline.

There’s no harness or stepping over the edge involved in this one. It’s the more relaxed rooftop option, giving you the unusual experience of standing on top of one of Perth’s biggest landmarks and taking in the view.

EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY:

- You’ll need a general level of fitness and must be physically and medically able to take part.
- Enclosed, flat shoes are required. Comfortable shoes with good grip are recommended.
- Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather, and bring sun protection.
- You must have a blood alcohol concentration below 0.05%.
- If you use a wheelchair or have other accessibility requirements, these will need to be discussed with the activity provider to make sure you can be safely accommodated.

The Cube

Step inside one of Woodman Point’s most distinctive adventure facilities and take on a mix of rock climbing, abseiling, and high ropes.

You’ll get to work your way up climbing walls, step backwards over the edge for an abseil, and move through high-ropes elements well above the ground.

Each activity brings a different kind of challenge, but you’ll be supported by qualified instructors throughout.

You don’t need to arrive as an expert. Just be ready to have a go, trust the equipment, and maybe give the Rover next to you a bit of encouragement when they need it.
